Brotherly love and friendship

Prov 18:24 AKJV A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

There are many topics in the Bible and many sermons that have been preached over the years. Yet, there is one topic that I have not heard much about in churches is friends and friendship.

The Bible has a lot to say about friends, which is something every person needs. No man is an island, and every person needs a friend.

In Prov 18:24, we find wisdom from Solomon about friends and a friend.

It says, “A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”

There are two things we get from this passage of scripture. One, if you have friends, you must show yourself to be friendly. What does that mean?

Well, if you consider yourself to be a friend, you must be friendly as well. Friendship is a two way street. It is not a one way street! You cannot consider yourself to be a friend, and not be friendly!

Two, Solomon goes to to say, “And there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.”

In other words you can have many friends, but there is a friend, that sticks closer than a brother.” Notice the first part of the scripture says friends, and the second part says a friend. One is plural, the other is singular.

There is always one friend that you consider closer than most. They may even be closer than a blood brother or sister! This is the essence of brotherly love and friendship!

As believers in Christ, or anyone that considers themselves a true friend, we should always strive to maintain brotherly and sisterly love through friendship!

Rest in God

Good day all, blessings in Jesus name! The Word of the  Lord today is rest in the LORD, according to Matt 11:28-30 AKJV

28 Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Rest in God today, and or tomorrow. With all the hustle and bustle of life, COVID, work, ministry, etc.. Many need rest.

The Lord said many have not been obedient to follow the commandment of the Lord, to work 6 days and rest. I’m not talking about the Sabbath day. (that’s another teaching) I’m simply saying: Rest!

We all need rest one day of the week. Rest your mind, rest your mouth, rest your spirit, rest from your labors, and rest in Jesus!

Did you know that God himself in all his glory and greatness ceased from his labors?

Gen 2:2-3 AKJV
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

So today, ease your mind, relax your mind, rest your body, and be at peace in Jesus name. If you are working today, take a deep breath and rest your spirit. The weekend is upon us! Sleep in tomorrow and rest in Jesus.

Above all, stop worrying, and let the Holy Spirit give you peace that passes all understanding, which will guard your heart and mind in Jesus name! Phil 4:7

Remember the Word of the Lord in Hebrews 4:9-11

9 There remains therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Last but not least, remember the Words of Jesus :

Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Rest and be blessed! Pastor Quinn

The God kind of love

Joh 3:16 AKJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We cannot fathom God’s perfect love, because we practice emotional love.  We pick and choose those whom we will love, but God’s love is unconditional.

The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins, 1 Peter 4:8. Love is the greatest commandment according to Matt 22:36-39.  The Apostle Paul lists love first as the first fruit of the Spirit. Jesus even rebuked a church because of their love. Rev 2:4.

People will know that you been with Jesus because of your love walk. John 13:34-35, not your title or gifting. We are all a work in progress truth be told. But, when you truly perfect this virtue of love, the power of Christ will rest upon you in the fullness of measure!

Sometimes we think it’s people, or even the Church that holds us back from moving forward, accomplishing vision, or doing great things, but check your love walk!

What we see in America is a result of hate and a lack of love. This is the stumbling block that hinders relationships, and will ultimately destroy a nation. Read Matt 24:10-13.

We must pray, and ask God to help us with this great virtue, and to perfect our love walk. Because truth be told. Many will stand before God for the lack of it.

Today, Ask the Lord to give you the grace to love unconditionally, and as you love, be wise to guard your heart from loveless people! God bless, Pastor Quinn
