The Wisdom of Change

Ecc 3:1  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecc 3:2  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Ecc 3:3  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ecc 3:4  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecc 3:5  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
Ecc 3:6  A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
Ecc 3:7  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Ecc 3:8  A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Good day all, Solomon in his wisdom tells us that change is inevitable. The word of wisdom is true. Take a look around you. God gives us times and seasons that show us the reality of change. Sam Cooke once wrote a song that said, “A change is gonna come.”

We must also be ready for the inevitable because in this life, change will surely come. Seasons change, the time changes, the weather changes, and sometimes your health changes. You may be healthy and whole today, and tomorrow that could change!

You may be in a relationship with someone, and something happens, God forbid, and it changes! Let’s be real, sometimes we are caught off guard by change! I have truly learned in life that everything has a time and season!

This is the wisdom Solomon shares with us in Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Change will come. The question is are we prepared for it? There are things that we have in the world today that we didn’t have in the 70’s 80’s or 90’s. Music has changed. Cars have changed. Church has changed, and lets be real, even people change. People will like you today, and maybe not so much tomorrow. Why? Because of change! Be prepared for it! But understand, there is one that will never change. That is God Almighty! The scripture says in Mal 3:6  For I am the LORD, I change not.

God will never change. The scripture says in Heb 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.  I am so glad that God does not change. This is why our faith, hope and love must be in him, and not in things! Why, because God is eternal. Isaiah the Prophet said that Yehovah is high and lofty and inhabits eternity!

Isa 57:15 – For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy.

The Apostle Paul said in 2 Cor 4:18,  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Take a look around, everything that we see in the natural can change! This is why we must be prepared in life for the unexpected. None of us expect the unexpected to happen, but if you understand what Solomon said about times and seasons in the earth, you will never be caught off guard!

Remember that everything in life that you see with the physical eye, has the potential to change. But the things that are unseen are eternal. Always be prepared for the unexpected, because as Solomon said, there is a time and season for every purpose under heaven, and remember the wise words of Sam Cooke….”A change is gonna come.” God Bless, Pastor Quinn

The Wounds of A Friend

Proverbs 27:6 KJ2000 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Solomon gives us wisdom that a true friend will tell you the truth in love, although sometimes the truth hurts. But it is the truth that makes us free! (John 8:32), and a friend does it with good intentions.

Likewise, a frienemy will tell you exactly what you want to hear, even if it isn’t the truth. Which can be harmful!

Jesus often said hard things in scripture to his disciples, but it wasn’t to hurt or harm them. It was to help them!

As a result, those same disciples became Apostles and world changers through the Gospel of the Kingdom!

Last but not least, always remember to encourage and build one another up. Never use words to tear one another down! Especially as believers in Christ! There is enough negativity in the world!

Today, as a friend give someone an encouraging Word that will make their day! God bless!

A Word of Pastoral Wisdom

Good day all,
Ecc 7:1 says, A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.

As I reflect on all the things that are transpiring in the world with COVID, life, death, hate, love, unity and division. I have come to the conclusion that time in this earth truly is very short!

Which means, do not take life for granted. Do not take friendships for granted. Do not take loved ones for granted. Because tomorrow is not promised! This is why today is called the “Present.”

Solomon, the wise man said that the day of one’s death is better than one’s birth. Why?

Because although birth is beautiful, we are born into a world full of trouble and pain. Especially in the times in which we live.

Death according to the wisest man that ever lived is inevitable, and is better than birth. No one likes death, but death in the Lord frees us from sickness, pain, trials, and troubles. Understand, that it shall come to us all. The Hebrews writer said in:

Heb 9:27 KJ2000, And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

We shall all stand before the LORD one day. So, live life with joy and do not take relationships for granted. The Lord also said something profound in
Matt 22:37-40:

37 Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor. In these two virtues are relationship with God and others. Repentance is unto God. Forgiveness is unto your neighbor.

Today, reflect on your life and your relationship with God and others. Remember, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but what you do today, determines your tomorrow!
Remember to live life today, with purpose in Christ!
