The Wisdom of Change

Ecc 3:1  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecc 3:2  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Ecc 3:3  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ecc 3:4  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecc 3:5  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
Ecc 3:6  A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
Ecc 3:7  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Ecc 3:8  A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Good day all, Solomon in his wisdom tells us that change is inevitable. The word of wisdom is true. Take a look around you. God gives us times and seasons that show us the reality of change. Sam Cooke once wrote a song that said, “A change is gonna come.”

We must also be ready for the inevitable because in this life, change will surely come. Seasons change, the time changes, the weather changes, and sometimes your health changes. You may be healthy and whole today, and tomorrow that could change!

You may be in a relationship with someone, and something happens, God forbid, and it changes! Let’s be real, sometimes we are caught off guard by change! I have truly learned in life that everything has a time and season!

This is the wisdom Solomon shares with us in Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Change will come. The question is are we prepared for it? There are things that we have in the world today that we didn’t have in the 70’s 80’s or 90’s. Music has changed. Cars have changed. Church has changed, and lets be real, even people change. People will like you today, and maybe not so much tomorrow. Why? Because of change! Be prepared for it! But understand, there is one that will never change. That is God Almighty! The scripture says in Mal 3:6  For I am the LORD, I change not.

God will never change. The scripture says in Heb 13:8  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.  I am so glad that God does not change. This is why our faith, hope and love must be in him, and not in things! Why, because God is eternal. Isaiah the Prophet said that Yehovah is high and lofty and inhabits eternity!

Isa 57:15 – For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy.

The Apostle Paul said in 2 Cor 4:18,  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Take a look around, everything that we see in the natural can change! This is why we must be prepared in life for the unexpected. None of us expect the unexpected to happen, but if you understand what Solomon said about times and seasons in the earth, you will never be caught off guard!

Remember that everything in life that you see with the physical eye, has the potential to change. But the things that are unseen are eternal. Always be prepared for the unexpected, because as Solomon said, there is a time and season for every purpose under heaven, and remember the wise words of Sam Cooke….”A change is gonna come.” God Bless, Pastor Quinn
