In life today, we often desire to accomplish, achieve and attain a lot of things. It could be a degree, a successful business, a house, to be debt free and many other things, which are all good!
But sometimes we embark on a particular goal, a dream or a vision with zeal, not knowing that what is before us is more than what we expected!
And sure we can research and get the information we need, But when we read the Bible, it says that we should do the following:
Prov 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
Prov 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
It also says:
Prov 4:5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Prov 4:6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you.
Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
So, when we break this down in a way we can understand, we get the following:
“Trust God with all your heart, and do not lean on your own limited understanding, but seek God, pray about it, and acknowledge the LORD in all that you desire to do, and he shall direct your paths, and give you divine direction to fulfill whatever is in your heart.”
The scripture then tells us:
“Get wisdom and understanding, and remember to not turn from these words. Because if you get it, (wisdom) she will preserve you. If you love her (wisdom), she will keep you in the right ways.
Wisdom is the primary or most important thing, so get it, and in all you desire to do, or get in this world, get some understanding first and foremost! (Pastor Quinn commentary)
You may ask why is wisdom, knowledge and understanding so important to me?
Well, when the Lord asked Solomon, who was the wisest and richest man to ever live, what he desired…
We find that he didn’t ask for riches, long life or the death of his enemies.
He asked for guess what? Wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
In the Bible, there are two accounts of this story, but they are the same. But what I find amazing is that God asked him in a dream, “Ask what shall I give you?”
1Kings 3:5 At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”
Now this is powerful and amazing, because most of us would have asked for material or personal things! Most of us would have asked for the house on the hill.
Most of us would have asked to be debt free and rich. Most of us would have asked for prestige, and to put our enemies and haters under our feet! Right? LOL… but Solomon asked for wisdom, knowledge and understanding!
Listen to what he said~!
1Kings 3:9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
2Chron 1:10 Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”
So Solomon asked the LORD to give him the very thing that God created the heavens and the earth with! WOW!
Prov 3:19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;
Prov 3:20 By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew.
Psalm 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom you have made them all: the earth is full of your riches.
Jeremiah 10:12, He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
So, when you ask for wisdom, knowledge and understanding in all that you do, you are asking God to give you divine, supreme, heavenly know how to accomplish the things that are in your heart!!!
So, after Solomon asked for wisdom, knowledge and understanding, the LORD was pleased with his answer and said:
2Chron 1:11 Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—
2Chron 1:12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.”
Wow, I could stop right here. Because today we have young and old people who think they know it all, done it all, and seen it all, just because we have traveled a few places and accomplished a few things.
Can I tell you something? We have not scratched the surface in what we can accomplish with the heavenly wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God Almighty!
So, today, I want you to pray, LORD grant me wisdom, knowledge and understanding in every area of my life, and when God gives you the answer, through a dream, a person, or whatever method he chooses. Don’t ignore it.
Receive it by faith and walk it out in faith, because when you do, the following will be your portion!
Prov 4:8 Exalt her (wisdom), and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. (wisdom)
Prov 4:9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” (knowledge)
Prov 4:10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. (understanding)
So remember these wise words:
Prov 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
Prov 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding.
and last but not least, remember the words of our LORD Yeshua Christ:
Mat 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Mat 7:8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
God Bless,
Pastor Quinn
