Exo 12:12 ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exo 12:13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
On this Sunday, April 5th, 2026, we celebrate our Resurrected Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Someone may be asking, “Why do we call it Resurrection Sunday?”
Well, you won’t find it particularly in the Bible. But Resurrection Sunday is a term that the Body of Christ uses to identify the day we celebrate our Resurrected LORD who died and shed his blood on the cross for the sins of the world.
Someone may be asking, “What about Easter?” Well, Easter is not in the Bible. It is a Western pagan holiday that many have celebrated for years, not knowing the full truth!
But Resurrection Sunday speaks to the day that we celebrate our RISEN LORD!
What is Passover all about?
Let me share a brief history of Passover. In the Old Testament, Exodus chapters 12 and 13, when the children of Israel were being delivered out of Egypt by Moses, the LORD gave Moses’s instructions to every family to kill a perfect tender lamb.
They were to take the blood of that lamb and spread it upon the doorposts of their home.
This would be the protection of the LORD for every family that was covered by the lamb’s blood, and when the destroyer came through with judgment to kill the firstborn of every man and creature, The LORD said to the people of God, “When I see the blood I will pass by.”
Well, many today celebrate the Biblical Feast of Passover, and others do not. But we must recognize in the New Testament, that Jesus Christ was that Passover Lamb whose blood was slain for the sins of the world.
Even if you don’t celebrate it, as believers in Christ, we must understand and know what Passover is all about.
Why it was implemented, what does it mean, and how does it point to the blood of Christ that was shed for the sins of the world?
The most important thing for us to remember is this is a time of celebration!
That Jesus Christ was that precious Lamb of God who was crucified, shed his blood, died, was buried and resurrected on the third day, and took all of our sins, sickness, and disease at the cross at Calvary!
And if it were not for the Lamb of God, and his precious blood that was shed, there would be no Passover or Resurrection!
Whether you celebrate the Biblical feast of Passover or Resurrection Sunday, Let us remember that it is a Holy day unto the LORD, and it all about Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who died and shed his blood for the sins of the world!
