Writing a New Years Vision for 2019

As we prepare to enter into a new year it is an exciting time,  because a new year has the potential to bring forth new things, hopes, goals, dreams and aspirations. This in itself is exciting but there is a catch.  It requires a new mindset. There is no way you can take hold of new things without a new mindset. There is no way you can do the same thing you did last year and expect new things in the new year! There must be a new mindset!

What do I mean by a new mindset? I mean a change of thought, and a change of direction in how you think, what you do and how you do it!  This is the season where many people will make a New Years resolution. A resolution is defined as: A firm decision to do or not to do something. The interesting thing about a New Year’s resolution is that we don’t normally keep them.

There is a better way to resolve to do something different in 2019.  Instead of a resolution write a New Year’s Vision. Listen to what the Prophet Habakkuk said about a vision:

Hab 2:2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries (delays), wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry (delay).

The LORD himself told Habakkuk to write the vision and make it plain. How many of us know that when the LORD speaks he is giving us a heavenly revelation of how to achieve or accomplish what is in our hearts?

The LORD said write the vision and make it plain, that he may run who reads it. I have found that when I write down things, it enables me to accomplish it successfully! The LORD then said that the vision is for an appointed time, but in the end it will speak, or come to pass, and it will not lie. Even though it appears to take a while, or to delay in coming to pass, it will surely come!

So what should you do? Write your vision down. Whatever is in your heart, whether it be goals, aspirations, dreams, or desires. I like to write them down in 4 categories: Spiritual, Physical, Financial and Personal

Spiritual goals could be a desire to draw nearer to the Lord through prayer,  studying the word more, reading the bible, or growing stronger in the faith. It is anything that draws you nearer to God and helps you spiritually.

Physical Goals could be a desire to get into shape and to eat right. Most people are in shape spiritually, but not physically. This means taking care of your body which is God’s temple. It means eating right and taking care of yourself. Write a vision, plan or goals to get your self into shape, going to the gym, working out, or taking a walk daily. You will add years to your life!

Financial Goals could be getting out of debt, becoming financially free, less spending in the world, and more sowing for the Kingdom of God. Desire to actually be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, a lender and not a borrower! Stop making the retailers rich and make yourself rich by saving and investing your money. Let’s become less materialistic and more Kingdom minded!

Personal Goals could be endeavoring to go back to school, writing a book, buying a home, starting a business, expanding a business, or anything that you desire to see come to pass in your life!

Write the vision and make it plain on paper, type it so you can see it everyday, post it, put it on your phone, your back door, where ever you can view it! And begin to decree it and say it out of your mouth.   The reason it is called a vision is because you have to see it! Can you see yourself financially free? Can you see yourself with your own business? Can you see yourself in that new home? Can you see yourself with a new car with a low payment? Can you see yourself going back to school?  Whatever is in your heart, you have to endeavor to see it to achieve it!  There are 4 parts to seeing your vision become a reality:

  1. Write the Vision
  2. Make it plain
  3. Read it
  4. Run with it

Notice that after you write it, and make it plain you must read it, then you must run with it. No vision can come to pass without preparation and dedication. Because if God gave you the vision, then you must run with it, to bring it to pass.

I want you to know that if you do these 4 things coupled with prayer, steadfastness and focus. Your season of new things will become a reality!

God Bless, Pastor Quinn
