Come unto me and I will give you rest

Mat 11:28  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Mat 11:29  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Mat 11:30  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Because of the crisis that is upon us, many are weary and heavy burdened, but the LORD desires to give us rest in the midst of the storm. When we think about it, God is literally showing the entire world that we are not in control of anything. It doesn’t matter what your religious persuasion is, or whether you are rich, poor, Black, White, Jew, Hispanic, Asian, Indian or Islander, we all need rest.

In my reading today in Psalm 4:1, David called on the LORD and said, “You have enlarged me when I was in distress, have mercy on me and hear my prayer.”  He goes on to say in Psalm 4:6, “There be many that say, “Who will show us any good? Lord lift up your countenance or presence on us!” Isn’t that the cry of many?

The answer to that question are the words of Yeshua Christ who said in Matt 11:28, “ Come unto me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The LORD is literally saying, “In the midst of this pandemic crisis, stop toiling, worrying, running to and fro and being fearful.”  If you would take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, you will find rest for your souls!” Because my yoke is easy and my burden is light!”

Do you know what  a yoke is?  It is a heavy piece of wood that served as a coupling to hold two oxen together to plow the fields and haul heavy loads. Today a yoke is a heavy burden that you are carrying that is weighing you down. The LORD is saying, I won’t put more on you than you can bear. You don’t have to carry this load. I am here to lighten the load.  As a matter fact, I want to take the load off your shoulders. Cast your worries, your cares, your fears, and your sickness on me.  Why? Because my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

So what can we do? Well Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”  1 Pet 5:6 -7 confirms it, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,  casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

I want to encourage everyone reading this to humble yourself and call upon the name of the LORD. If we want to see change and healing in the land, it will start with each of us as we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, repent and confess our sins as a church, a people, a community and nation! Why because the LORD desires to give us rest!

Rest will come when we come unto him. I want you to know that the LORD’s  burden is easy and his yoke is light. Today, release that burden and yoke and come to Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamishiach)  by accepting him as LORD and Savior. I am not talking about religion, I am speaking of relationship with the one true God. (Deut 6:4-5)

How do you do this? Act 2:37-38 tells us:  “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”  Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

The LORD has provided a way to give us rest and assurance that he is with us and cares for us. If you want to know more about laying your burdens down and coming to Jesus Christ, go to this link: https://firmfoundationcf.org/salvation/

May God bless you!
