Waiting on the Vision

Hab 2:2  Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.
Hab 2:3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
Hab 2:4  “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.

One of the most powerful passages of scripture can be found in the book of Habakkuk chapter 2.

Many visionaries stand on this scripture, when they are believing God for something to come to pass! The scriptures are powerful, revelational, and inspirational.

When waiting on a vision, lets just be real. It can be challenging! But although it is challenging, we should find comfort in the scripture which says, “That the promises of God are yes and amen according to 2 Corinthians 1:20.”

In other words, what God has promised in his Word will surely come to pass in the appropriate timing and season, because God is not a man that he should lie.

When trusting God for a Kingdom of God vision, dream, goal or aspiration to come to pass. Faith and patience are very important.

Because sometimes you see schools, houses, restaurants, businesses and even churches being built all around you and all over the city, and you wonder, will my vision come to pass?

Remember! The promises of God are yes and amen! God is not a man that he should lie! (Numbers 23:19)

What God said, he will surely do! God will do what he said he will do, but the question is? “Do we have faith?”

The Bible says in Hebrews 6:12, “That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

In other words, don’t get lazy, don’t get complacent, don’t get weary, but remember those who came before you.

Remember Moses and the promised land. Remember the Apostles and Prophets who waited on God and trusted God! They had faith and they had patience!

Today, we live in a microwave society that wants everything like a fast food restaurant! Quick, fast and in a hurry! This is not God’s way of doing things, although he can do anything!

No matter how we feel, we must be obedient to God who said, “Write the vision and make it plain!” (verse 2)

Why do we do this? So you can see it, read it, speak over it, share it, proclaim it, prepare for it, and most importantly, run with it.”

Habakkuk also said, the vision is for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and lie. (verse 3)

This is powerful. An appointed time is God’s predestined, purposed, planned, promised and prophesied time.

It is not man’s chronological clock time. It is God’s perfect time, which some refer to as “Kairos time. “

The word Kairos, in the Greek is revelational time, or the right time and season, or an opportune or appropriate time or moment.

Which means it is not our time, but God’s time. Sometimes we forget that God’s time is not our time!

So, we must get on God’s time! The scripture says that a day with the LORD is as a thousand years! Goodness!

2 Peter 3:8  But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Although the vision may not take a thousand years, it will take some time! ( :

Remember! There are many variables in seeing a vision, dream or goal come to pass.

1. We need much prayer, which is very important. Because in prayer, we get divine direction.

2. We need provision, which is resources and finances! No vision can come to pass without resources or finances. As a matter of fact, this is very, very important!

3. We need patience, which we all have a lot of!  Not! Lack of patience is the killer of visions! People give up while waiting. People throw in the tower while waiting.

People take their little red wagon and go home while waiting. People quit while waiting,  and some just have plain unbelief while waiting! These are all vision killers!

4. We need people! No vision can come to pass without the unwavering support of faithful people~! Because people assist in bringing the vision it to pass!

People assisted in Moses Tabernacle vision. People assisted in Solomon’s Temple vision, and people assisted in Nehemiah’s restoration vision!

Lets be real. Getting on God’s time can be challenging. Because as human beings, we want it now. And people are so impatient that they go ahead of God at times, which is not wise.

But remember the words of Isaiah the Prophet.

Isaiah 40:31, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint.

The scripture also says in the end it shall speak, and not lie. (verse 3)

God’s word is true, and regardless of the timeframe, God’s word will not fail, because the scripture says it is impossible for God to lie! (Numbers 23:19)

Lastly, the scripture says, “Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (verse 3)

What does tarry mean? It means   to delay. It means to take a while. It means to prolong.

Regardless of how long! God said, wait for it, because it will surely come! It will not tarry.  God is literally saying that your waiting is not in vain. That your patience is not wasted time, it is wise time, because it will come at the appropriate time that God has ordained.

Be encouraged and know that whatever vision, dream, goal or aspiration you have takes a while, wait on God! Because with God nothing is impossible!

God bless, Pastor Quinn
