The Spiritual Battle

The Word of the LORD for this week is from Psalm 144:1,  A Psalm of David. “Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.”

One of the things we must never forget is that there is an unseen war raging in the spirit realm. Someone once said the level of activity in the physical realm is equal or greater in the spiritual realm. In other words when we see all the mayhem, violence, and destruction in the physical realm, there is much more going on in the spiritual realm causing this to manifest.

Just because you don’t see it in the natural, doesn’t mean that it is not so. Why, because it is going on spiritually in the unseen realm! We know it to be so because the Apostle Paul told us in Ephesians 6:12,  “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Paul said we are not wrestling against flesh and blood. Paul said it is something much more sinister and dark. All throughout the Bible we see Israel fighting enemies. Abraham had to fight. Moses had to fight. Joshua had to fight. King David was a warrior but he was also a worshipper! Paul even said that we should fight the good fight of faith in 1 Tim 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

There are many reading this that may say, Pastor I don’t like to fight and I don’t want to fight!~  Well my dear brother and sister, I have to tell you that although you didn’t start the fight, the enemy will bring the fight against your church, marriage, ministry, health, family, finances, and your life! The devil often picks fights with us even when we don’t want a fight! Maybe that’s why David said in, Psa 144:1  A Psalm of David. “Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.”

Although the battle is already won and we have the victory in Jesus Name, we still have to walk it out in the physical realm.  Although we are meek and walk in peace, we should have the mindset of David who said that the Most High God himself teaches me how to war, and my fingers to fight. Wow, what a Word! God himself will give us the wisdom in this spiritual battle!

Who are we fighting? Against anything that is evil, against the forces of darkness, and against anything that would exalt itself against the knowledge and Word of God! We don’t fight with natural weapons, we war in the spirit with prayer, prophecy and praise!

The scripture says in 2 Cor 10:3-4 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”  Today ask God to give you the heart of a warrior and worshipper with a powerful prayer voice, that will prophesy the Word of God with power, and a radical praise that will still and stop the enemy of our soul in his tracks! God Bless!
