Faith and focus for the journey

Num 13:32-33 KJV 32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

In the times that we live, faith and focus are two things we need for the journey ahead.

Why do we need faith? Because faith will sustain you like nothing else, and will give you the hope to overcome anything in your life you are going through.

Why do we need focus? Because without the proper focus, you cannot see clearly what is before you, and neither can you
achieve the things that are in your heart.

Why? Because a lack of focus means you have taken your eyes off of what is before you, due to distraction or deception.

Understand that in difficult times, having a strong faith and focus in the Word of God will keep you focused for the journey ahead.

When you are driving on a road trip or journey, it’s important to stay focused right? Which means we must be alert and watchful, knowing that there may be obstacles or situations that could hinder you on the journey.

Remember, in the journey of faith, you are going to be tested, and if you are not focused, you may find yourself doing something that is not Kingdom related, or out of the will of God!

Remember the story of the 12 Israelite spies in the Bible, that went to spy out the land in Numbers Chapter 13?

In Numbers Chapter 13, the LORD tells Moses to send twelve men, who were leaders to spy out the land he was giving to him.

Num 13:1-3 AKJV 1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Send you men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall you send a man, every one a ruler among them. 3 And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

So the LORD gave them a Word to take possession of the land, and the only thing they had to do was obey God, spy out the land, and take possession of it.

The interesting thing is when they spied it out, they saw that the land was awesome, but there was just one problem. There were giants in the land.

In other words, there were obstacles or things they saw, which caused them to have a lack of faith and focus. Why, because they didn’t believe the Word of the LORD spoken to Moses, and they saw the themselves as grasshoppers.

Num 13:32-33 AKJV 32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched to the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eats up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Do you see why faith and focus are important? Because God has given us his Word to sustain us in difficult times, and the journey ahead. Yet, many times, because of a lack of faith and focus, we miss the blessing that God has for us because of fear, doubt and unbelief!

As a result of their fear, doubt and unbelief, out of 12 men, only 2 entered into the Promised Land, which was Joshua and Caleb.

Num 14:30 AKJV Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

These two men had a faith and a focus in God! They saw what Moses saw, and believed the Word of the LORD.

When you have a strong faith and focus in God, nothing is impossible for you. Why? Because with God, nothing is impossible.

Mar 9:23 AKJV Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.

But when you have a lack of faith and focus in God, you hinder the blessing that God has for your life!

Heb 11:6 AKJV But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Question, what doors and opportunities in your life have been hindered because of a lack of faith and focus?

I encourage you to stay strong in faith, and focused for the journey ahead regardless of what happens in the earth, or in your life.

Brothers and Sisters, always trust God, keep the faith, and stay focused, no matter what it looks like, seems like or appears to be. Because with God, nothing is impossible!

God bless, Pastor Quinn
