Victory in your Voice!

Prov 18:20  A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
Prov 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

How many of us know that we live in tribulous times today, and life can bring you trials, tribulation, troubles and even tragedies.

But the Bible gives us encouragement and hope! Jesus said that in this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, because I have overcome the world! John 16:33

This should encourage us, because if the Lord overcame pain and death on the cross and said, “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Surely, we can overcome as well!

When we study the life of Christ, Jesus always had wise words to share, and he spoke with Kingdom authority.

For example, He spoke words that brought healing to a blind man. (Luke 18:41-42) He spoke words of comfort to a woman caught in adultery. (John 8:10-11) He told a man who was paralyzed, “Take up your bed and walk.” (Mark 2:10-11) and he spoke to the wind and the waves, saying “Peace, be still!” (Mark 4:37-39) and they were stilled!

Jesus always spoke words that were powerful and gave life to others! But he reserved his fiery words for the religious who thought they were beyond rebuke!

For example, in the book of Matthew, he told the religious leaders:

Mat 12:34  Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Mat 12:35  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

Jesus knew the power of words, and we need to understand the power of words as well! He told them; How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Did you hear what he said in verse 34, For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

He then tells them in Matt 12:37, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

There is something we can learn from this. Because many times we wonder why we go through, and things are the way they are.

Well, the LORD said, “What are you saying?” You see, many times, victory or defeat resides within you! Encouragement and discouragement resides within you! Success or failure resides within you!

The Bible says in Prov 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that do love it shall eat its fruit.”

Do you really understand the power of life and death through words?

Today, think about the words you are saying. In other words, what are you speaking? What are you proclaiming? What are you saying? Isn’t it amazing that one little organ, called the tongue can control the direction of our life?

The Apostle James said something so profound and wise about the tongue in the Bible.

Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
Jas 3:7  For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
Jas 3:8  But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Jas 3:9  With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
Jas 3:10  Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

I want to encourage you today to speak life not death, good not evil and blessing and not cursing! You see, victory is in your voice!

I want you to know that whatever you are going through, that the power of prayer, prophecy and praise can turn your situation around through faith in God’s word!

I found something very revelational many years ago while reading 2 Chron 20:1-30.

Read it, it will inspire you! It is the story of King Jehoshaphat, who was a Godly king. (For the sake of space and time, I will give you a brief synopsis!)

King Jehoshaphat heard that three great armies were coming against him. So, he feared, and proclaimed a time of prayer and fasting in Judah unto to the LORD, for everyone in the Kingdom. (2 Chron 20:3-4)

As a result of their prayer, the LORD raised up a Prophet who gave them a prophetic word to encourage them he said, “You will not need to fight in this battle, because the battle is not yours, but God’s!” (2 Chron 20:14-17)

Then, the LORD gave them a supernatural strategy! He told them to put people on the front line who had a radical praise as they went out to battle! (2 Chron 20:21)

When they done this, the LORD gave them a great victory! Listen to the scripture:

2 Chron 20:22  Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
2 Chron 20:23  For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

So, in essence, the LORD gave them victory through their voice! There was prayer, a prophecy and praise that enabled them to get the victory! I like to call it 3P Victory, which is Prayer, Prophecy and Praise!

What is amazing that after they got the victory over the enemy, God gave them peace!

2Ch 20:27  Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them rejoice over their enemies.
2Ch 20:28  So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the LORD.
2Ch 20:29  And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel.
2Ch 20:30  Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.

The scripture says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal or of a fleshly nature! But mighty in God to the pulling down of strongholds!

2 Cor 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
2 Cor 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

Today, I want to encourage you that victory is in your voice! Speak life, not death, good not evil and blessing not cursing!

And watch what the LORD does in your life and in your situation! Remember 3P Victory!
